Signs It's Time to Replace Your Dining Chairs (and Why It Doesn't Have to Cost a Fortune)
Dining chairs are easy to stop noticing. They were there when you got married, they were there for every child's first Shabbos at the big table, and they're still there now. But "still there" isn't the same as "still good." Here are the signs it's really time.
1. The wobble that won't go away
You've tightened the bolts, maybe glued a joint, and a week later it's back. Once the joints themselves are worn, a chair won't stay steady for long, and a shaky chair under a guest is the last thing you want at a simcha.
2. You can feel the frame through the seat
Seat foam slowly flattens. If sitting through a long Friday night meal leaves you shifting around, the cushion has done its job and it's done.
3. Fabric that's worn, torn or stained for good
Thin spots, peeling leather-look, stains that have been there since the last bar mitzvah. You can cover them with a towel for the kids, but you know they're there.
4. Not enough chairs for Yom Tov
The family has grown. The married children come with their spouses and the grandchildren, and every Pesach someone is sitting on a folding chair or a piano bench. If you're borrowing chairs every Yom Tov, the table has outgrown the set.
5. The dining room looks tired
The table is fine, the room is fine, but the chairs make everything look older than it is. New chairs are often the single biggest change you can make to a dining room without a renovation.
6. You've been saying "next year" for a few years
This is the most common sign of all. And usually the reason is the price.
Why it doesn't have to cost a fortune
Most furniture stores carry big costs: rent on a busy avenue, a large showroom, a big staff and a huge selection from many brands. All of it is built into the price of each chair, and when you need eight, ten or more, it adds up fast. That's why so many families keep sitting on the old ones.
We started Prime Seating because we saw that need in our own community: families who want a beautiful, comfortable, modern table without paying for a big store's rent, showroom and staff. We run a small showroom in Brooklyn, without the big-store overhead. We keep a curated selection of styles we believe in and help each customer ourselves. That means you get the same mid-to-high-end look and quality, in velvet, leather, leather-look and bouclé, at a fair price compared to what other stores charge. Luxury for less, without cutting corners on the chair.
Ready when you are
Many families like to have new chairs in place before Pesach or the Yamim Tovim, when the table is fullest. Whenever you're ready, come sit in the chairs at our showroom, 95 Stockton St #1, Brooklyn (Sun–Thu, 8–10 PM; walk-ins welcome, but call or text first in case the hours change), browse the collection at primeseatingny.com/shop, or text a photo of your dining room to 929-556-6778 and we'll help you choose.
